There is no clear definition of sheet metal in the world. According to a definition in a foreign professional journal, sheet metal is a comprehensive cold working process for sheet metal (usually less than 6mm), including cutting, punching/cutting/compounding, folding, riveting, splicing, forming (such as car body), etc. Its remarkable feature is the same thickness of the same parts. The use of sheet metal is mainly in the electronic and electrical industry, the following to give you an example.


1, ordinary cold rolled plate SPCC


SPCC refers to the continuous rolling of steel ingot by cold rolling mill into steel sheet or sheet of required thickness. SPCC surface without any protection, exposure to the air is easy to be oxidized, especially in the humid environment oxidation speed, dark red rust, in use, the surface should be painted, electroplated or other protection.


2. Galvanized steel plate SECC


The base material of SECC is general cold-rolled steel coil. After degreasing, pickling, electroplating and various post-treatment processes in the continuous electric galvanizing production line, it becomes electric galvanizing product. SECC not only has the mechanical properties of common cold rolled steel sheet and similar workability, but also has excellent corrosion resistance and decorative appearance. In electronic products, home appliances and furniture market has a great competitiveness and substitution. For example, SECC is commonly used in computer cases.


3. Hot dip galvanized steel SGCC


Hot dip galvanized steel coil refers to the semi-finished product after hot pickling or cold rolling, after cleaning, annealing, immersed in the temperature of 460°C melting zinc tank, plated steel sheet zinc layer, and then through conditioning and leveling and chemical treatment. SGCC materials are harder than SECC materials, have poor ductility (avoid deep pumping designs), thicker zinc layers, and poor weldability.


4, stainless steel SUS301, chromium content is lower than SUS304, corrosion resistance is poor, but after cold processing can get good tension and hardness, good elasticity, more used for shrapnel spring and EMI prevention.


5, stainless steel SUS304 one of the most widely used stainless steel, because of nickel than chromium steel rich corrosion resistance, heat resistance, has very good mechanical properties, no heat treatment hardening phenomenon, no elasticity.
